PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Delwar Hossain is Professor of Geological Sciences at the Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. He obtained his Ph. D. degree in geophysics from the former Leningrad Mining Institute (currently, Saint Petersburg State Mining Institute) in 1987, having attended the Department of Exploration Geophysics. Prof. Hossain has been a researcher and teacher of university-level applied geophysics over the last 33 years, was Honorary research fellow in the School of Earth Sciences, the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and worked as guest professor in the Faculty of Earth Science (FSB), Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), Malaysia. Earlier, he also Worked as a hydrogeological consultant in a Dutch-assisted project, Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Dhaka, and has participated in acquisition and interpretation of hydrogeological and geophysical data in Bangladesh, including its Coastal Belt. Prof. Hossain’s research interests include petroleum geophysics and hydro-geophysics, with particular emphasis on lithofacies identification and structural and petrophysical interpretation.
